Overview

Our growing company is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team in our corporate office in Norwalk, CT. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, fast-growing public company with a great team!

 

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for daily and monthly general accounting tasks with an emphasis on general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will work on the preparation of accurate financial reports and supporting schedules. In addition, the Staff Accountant will analyze financial information, call attention to trends, make recommendations, collect information and prepare reports for management which highlight any potential issues affecting expenses, balances or cash flow. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis for consolidation purposes
  • Responsible for the preparation of month end journal entries.
  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from other departments.
  • Develop written summaries of major variances from prior month, quarter and plan.
  • Support and assist in the preparation of the company’s financial statements, quarterly and annual, in accordance with IFRS.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Maintain permanent files for balance sheet accounts.
  • Recommend and help develop policies and procedures to meet company objectives and increase efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting or industry (preparation of financial statements and financial analysis).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Month-end close experience.
  • Process improvement minded.
  • Enjoys working in an energetic fast-paced environment.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H-1B visa status)
